Area Activities

Our beach is a favorite with all our guests. It is safe and sandy with comfortable lawn furniture as well as picnic tables for shoreline meals.  Often guests enjoy snorkeling our shoreline and rock bars to the island and around.  Our campfire pit is a great place to gather, roast marshmallows or even cook dinner.

The protected bays, rock shores and deep water offer some of the best fishing in the northwoods. Spider Lake has consistently produced Musky, Walleye, Bass, and Crappie, is 354 acres in size and water skiing is allowed.

Downtown Mercer is just 3.5 miles away.  There are shops, tackle/bait shops, many restaurants and pubs, an excellent grocery store and a large library.  There is a historical museum, art gallery/shop and more.  You can visit the Chamber of Commerce's website for more information on area events, etc. by clicking here:  http://mercercc.com/calendar/

Our area is blessed with natural beauty, which includes waterfalls.  There are many you can visit within an hour's drive from the resort.  Ask us for more information as we can offer trips based on your energy level.  Some waterfalls are within site of your car for even easier access.  Some are over an hour's drive, like the Porcupine Mountain range.

Lake Superior is approximately 45 minutes north by car.  There are trails for recreation, waterfalls and many sights to see along the shore.  Superior Falls is a favorite among our guests.

Fishing is good here too.  A 46 inch muskellunge (musky) was caught recently.  Some customers limit out on crappie and a few, huge small-mouth bass were photographed and released.  These are just a sampling of the many fish that thrive in our lake.

If no activity is more your style, we have comfortable chairs on all the screen porches and in the cabins.  Plenty of firewood is available for those cabins with fireplaces for your enjoyment.  If short walks are more your idea of fun, we have trails through our adjacent 40 acres you can explore.  Walk to our point of land just west of the resort cabins.  There you will find a private view of the lake and island as you enjoy the benches we placed around the property.  Peace and quiet are waiting here for you.  You won't hear traffic from any highway here.

Sorry, no jet skis, BB guns, fireworks, or loud music at our resort.

Recreation & Relaxation

We try to offer something for everyone, with a wide range of activities and adventures. We are much like a family camp, guiding many outings, providing lessons and offering educational information (when wanted). Enjoy the activities mentioned above, or also the basketball court, croquet and hammocks. The lodge has a bar, piano, foosball table, and games (more in the supply area in the basement). Canoe or kayak on the Turtle Chain of Lakes right from the resort, or go to the Turtle Flambeau Flowage and many other nearby waterways. Hiking and biking in our beautiful northwoods are just two ways to explore and experience the wildlife. Mercer now has an extensive bicycle trail.  Nature walks on our many miles of wooded trails offer berry picking and views of many wildflowers such as iris, pitcher plants, orchids and more.  Ask about our free guided tours to many adventures.

Go fishing, swimming (sandy beach) kayaking, stand on sailboards and sailing.  The DNR and Lake Association have been working hard to increase pan fish populations for fishing and enjoyment.

Canoes, kayaks, sailboats, stand-on sailboards, paddleboat, and rowboats are available but subject to change. No charge for guests to use if you are willing to share. Lessons and canoe/kayak trip drop off and pick up can be arranged at no charge.
